Technical Difficulties

Posted on Saturday 25 November 2006

It seems that over the Thanksgiving holiday, we’ve been experiencing some technical difficulties. The fetching software hosted at MediaTemple has stopped functioning properly. I’m flying back in to town tomorrow, so I should be able to fix the issues over the weekend. In the mean time, I’ve been running the fetching program manually when I have a chance.

Pinging still works properly, so if you are a Friend of pfblogs.org and you’ve configured your blogging software to ping our server, then you won’t see any problems.

Sorry for all the problems; looks like we’re (still) gonna need a better host.

What are you currently using? Let me recommend site5.com
The only complain I had with them is unexpected upgrade to PHP5.2 (although they claim they sent out the email)
Otherwise it is a very reliable webmaster oriented hosting company. I migrated to them mostly because I needed better CPU availability for running my background scripts and they offered good site/host ratio

    Hi PF Blogs,

I have migrated my blog from wellheeled.blogspot.com to wellheeled.wordpress.com. Should I submit a new add for my new blog address? I apologize if this isn’t the right place to ask, but I checked FAQ’s and there wasn’t a topic that addressed my question.

    Thank you for your help!
    Wanda

Yan: Thanks for the suggestion. We’re in a groove with shared responsibilites between DreamHost (our server was recently upgraded) and MediaTemple (who also just upgraded their gridservers). We can probably handle about 100 more blogs before more alternatives will be sought.
