Changes Afoot on pfblogs.org

Posted on Monday 15 May 2006

Chances are that if you’re reading this, you’ve noticed that there is a new look to the aggregator pages at pfblogs.org. Blog entries written by those who are Friends of pfblogs.org are now highlighted in red in order to help them stand out among other articles. This has already helped drive more traffic to participating blogs.

Update: Click here to become a Friend of pfblogs.org.

It’s not too late to become a Friend of pfblogs.org even though the membership drive has ended. Until May 31, you can become a Friend and reap all the benefits (gold star, highlighted posts, and more to come) for a year for $10. Beginning June 1, pfblogs.org will introduce a new pricing structure.

Here’s a very small change. The popular filter now only displays deserving items from the last twenty-four hours.

Okay, you have me baffled on the new Rating Formula. What’s even more confusing is that if you refresh it’s different each time. Is it just random? First mine was 10.0, then 3.65, then 7.34, then 12.28. All within a span of about a half an hour! What’s going on here pfblogs.org? You playing with us?

We were experimenting with the formula when you were viewing the site. There will still be changes to be made.

Not to be rude, but why is the site so ugly now? This gray on gray, and red on gray is not very appealing to the eye. I know you want to highlight the sponors of the site, but it could be a bit more subtle. Why not go back to the old look and just have a star next to their article title?

Excellent question about the ugliness of the site. We’re coders, not designers, and we’re looking for someone to redo the site entirely.
