Annual Campaign Coming to a Close

Update: Click here to become a Friend of pfblogs.org.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to pfblogs.org during the month of April to become a “Friend of pfblogs.org.” To date, we have received more than $330 (after $19 in PayPal fees), including some early donations in March. For the remainder of April, […]

Thanks For Your Input

( Admin )

Thank you to everyone who contributed thoughts to my previous question. I have updated the FAQ to reflect and clarify the new policy. Also, thanks for your thoughts on the way the blogs are listed in the sidebar. I will make some changes to that feature sometime during May. In the […]

Need Advice From The Community

( Blogs )

I’ve been pretty lax with adding sites to pfblogs.org. Basically, if a person submits a website, and it’s a blog that touches on personal finances, investing, or real estate, it’s in.
But what about blogs whose posts are 99% affiliate links? A certain site claims to be about getting out of debt — I […]

Blog List Updates

The list of blogs on the pfblogs.org sidebar now lists at maximum 200 blogs, whether you’re looking at all blogs or just a category like investing. The list is randomly sorted, with Friends of pfblogs.org on top. All Friends of pfblogs.org will always be listed, plus a random assortment of other blogs.
It’s not […]

Returned From Vacation

Update: Click here to become a Friend of pfblogs.org.
I’ve arrived home, and I’ve spent some time working on the administration of pfblogs.org. First of all, thank you to everyone who has supported us in our Annual Campaign. We have raised well past the goal for April, $200. Did we break $300?

Vacation

I’m writing a quick update to let pfblogs.org fans know I am on vacation. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Annual Campaign in the past few days. I may not be able to quickly assign gold stars to those donating more than $10, but everything will be up to date […]

For Those Entering The pfblogs.org Contest

( Contest )

Right now, I’m going to be the sole judge of the Summer 2006 Content. If you’re interested in winning $200, please consider entering. The idea is to get the word out about pfblogs.org to as many people as possible, but offline.
Remember, you’ll have to prove that what you say is true. If […]

Some pfblogs.org Changes Before Vacation

Entries that contain five words or less will not be listed on pfblogs.org. For example, a blog post that contains only a graphic won’t appear in the aggregator.
Here’s an Annual Campaign update. We have surpassed the goal for April and we have raised over $200 after PayPal fees. I won’t say how […]

Undocumented Feature: Popular Posts

( Admin )

Sshhh. Now that you’re reading this, you’re in the know. We’re quietly releasing a new feature, and it’s one that has been requested. If the number of clicks an article gets defines its popularity or first sentence appeal, then here’s how you see entries ranked. It’s a useless feature in my […]

Annual Campaign Update

Update: Click here to become a Friend of pfblogs.org.
Wow. We are only six days into the month of April, and we’re only a little more than $10 away from the fundraising goal. The support from the personal finance blogging community has been nothing short of amazing!

Expansion

( Blogs )

I’m a personal finance blogger — a generalist — and for my outside blog, I don’t focus specifically on real estate or investing. I cover those topics only when they’re part of a larger picture. However, there are a lot of blogs that focus on real estate or investing (and trading). I’d […]

Summer 2006 Contest

( Contest )

One of the slightly-hidden goals of pfblogs.org is to increase public awareness of the personal finance genre (including investing and real estate) within the blogosphere. This certain niche has done a great job of spreading and growing over the last few years. You can see its growth by following the Carnival of Personal […]

Improvement Based On Your Suggestions

( Blogs )

Earlier, I mentioned the 90-Day Rule — blogs that haven’t been updated in the last 90 days are dropped from the list of websites visible on pfblogs.org, but are not dropped from the database. They are polled every half hour just like all the others. If their authors happen to return from hiatus, […]

Annual Campaign Progress

Thank you to everyone who has contibuted to the Annual Campaign so far. I set a goal of $200 for the entire month of April, and on the evening of April 2, here is what we have so far:
